Rev. Michael R. Seely joined First Presbyterian Church as our
Pastor/Head of Staff in May 2006. He leads the congregation in
worship for two services weekly as well as for assorted other
activities, such as the mid-week Gathering.
A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in urban and economic geography, the Rev. Seely quickly found his calling to the ministry, graduating from Princeton Theological Seminary and beginning his ministry at the Christ Presbyterian Church of Lebanon, Pa. Following that first call, he then served as associate pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, Ill., followed by a 13-year stint at First Presbyterian of Cambridge, Ohio. Most recently, he served as interim pastor at First Presbyterian of New Philadelphia, Ohio.
In Cambridge, he developed the mission partnership program of the presbytery with the Presbytery of the North in Brazil. He made two trips there, the second with his entire family and eight church members who built a church in a small village in that Brazilian presbytery. Active in community ecumenical organizations, including Rotary Club, he also plays saxophone and clarinet and has been principle actor in the Living Word Outdoor drama in Cambridge, Ohio, as Pontius Pilate and other bad guys.
Rev. Seely and his wife Carol have two daughters, Natalee and Alissa.
